  • Artist Bio

Ng Sai-kit studied photography in the UK from 1989 to 1990. He established the “Photocrafters” workshop with partners between 2005 and 2008, organising photography courses and group exhibitions. In 2008, he co-founded the studio “Out-Focus Group”.

  • Description

This series is called Folds of Cities. The artist tried to open, through photography, a city’s “folded” spaces – those hidden, imagined and illusory spaces caught between history and reality. Ng’s works also refer to the “dispersed perspectives” characteristic of Chinese landscape paintings, deliberately capturing the multi-layered spatial arrangement in an urban environment. He filled his compositions almost to the brink to emphasise the sense of suffocation and confusion in this urban space, creating strong dramatic effects at the same time.
